Youth Spring League

Spring-Up Developmental League TBD for 21/22 - check back later in the season

Coming this season to the Ice House, we will be introducing a 6-week session

This season is intended to give our players a jump start with their 21/22 teammates by playing under that season’s age classifications. All players will advance one year so that all second-year players will move to the next group (i.e. a player born in 2008, a second year Peewee for the 20-21 season, will play Bantams).

6u-12u will share ice on Monday nights for a station based, ADM practice that focuses on individual development and team concept. Skill stations will be kept simple to reduce time explaining drills and increase the number of times your child participates and touches a puck. Small area games will be used as teaching tools for hockey concepts to encourage your players creative side and to develop their Hockey IQ in a natural way.

14u-18u will share the ice on Monday nights after our younger players. Larger ice drills will be incorporated, but the game of hockey will always be won in small area battles. More emphasis will be applied to the compete side of hockey as our 14u on up will get comfortable using their bodies and competing for loose pucks, winning battles on the boards and controlling the slot. Hockey is a physical game whether your player is going to play non-check rec league, non-check girls league or full check travel hockey. We will work with all of our players to make them feel comfortable giving, and receiving, contact in a game.

Scrimmages will be broken up so that the incoming 12u and older can get full ice games, 10u will play half ice games and 8u/6u will play cross ice games. 14u and 18u will be broken up to play on different nights of the week, so as not to interfere with any other Spring hockey.
